I was dreaming of such a wonderful experience in life, and then to fulfil this desire I planned a trip to Jaisalmer with my friends.
It was a journey through the golden sand dunes of Jaisalmer where we can enjoy the tranquillity of desert area in our trip. We started our desert journey by enjoying a Jaisalmer camel safari in the never-ending sleek stretch of desert. Later we reached Kuldhara Village which is the most popular abandoned village in Rajasthan. Our tour guide told us that many haunted stories were associated with this village thus it became the most popular haunted site in royal state. This ancient ghost village is not more than a ruin, but I have a keen interest in knowing the history about this village. Kuldhara Village was inhabited by the highest caste of Brahmins. The then Maharaja of this village was a Rajput warrior who fell in love with the daughter of village chieftains and frighten to conquer the settlement if she wasn’t handed over to him. After some time, the chief decided to leave this village overnight. We have no idea about how much this tale is truth in itself, but the history of this village buried under the sand dunes.
As the day dawn, we have captured the mesmerizing view of sunset over the dunes in our cameras. After a long journey through the sand dunes, we reached our camping site and get accommodated in our camps. We can feel the tranquillity of the dunes as we can only hear the murmurs of me and my friends.
I can feel the goosebumps on my skin due to the cold winds blowing in the dunes, to get rid of such a cold weather we sit near a bonfire on the campsite. When I was booking my Jaisalmer Desert Safari Package, I can really imagine the moments on the back of my mind as I was very excited to go. For entertaining us, arrangements of folk dance and music performances were made by our travel agent which I enjoyed the most. Later we were served with the delicious buffet dinner and then comes my favorite moment which I was dreaming for since last few years. We went to sleep below the twinkling stars all around in a dark skies over the desert dunes. It was a dreamy night and next day we woke up and had a breakfast. Later we return back to the city for Jaisalmer sightseeing which includes Jaisalmer Fort – the Golden ornate of the city, three Havelis of traders and merchants (Salim Singh ki Haveli, Nathmal Ji ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli), Bada Bagh – cenotaphs of maharajas and royal families of Jaisalmer, etc.
We have captured the most beautiful sights of these attractions in our cameras and then we head towards our pre-booked hotel for an overnight stay in Jaisalmer. Next day was the last day of our trip and we proceed to our home. The entire trip was the most memorable one of my life and my favorite moment was sleeping in the shed of stars.
Jaisalmer Desert Festival held every year in the month of January-February in the golden city of Rajasthan, Jaisalmer. The festival begins with the procession from the Jaisalmer Fort in the morning and ends at Shahid Poonam Singh Stadium. One can witness the locals wearing traditional attire, singing and dancing. Gair and fire dance is performed to attract the visitors.

I went on a trip to Jaisalmer in the month of November with a group of 5 friends. We reached Jaisalmer Railway Station in the morning. We had booked a Full Day Desert Safari Tour Package from the Real Desert Man Safari Jaisalmer. It was our best and smart decision to book a package online. The company cab came to pick us on the Railway Station. It had saved our time in hiring a cab and guide.
Our tour started here. Our guide was giving us information about the history of Jaisalmer and its majestic architecture. We reached Kuldhara Village which is an abandoned site. We could see very few people around us. People were in their traditional dress, probably it was Rajasthani dress. Women wearing ghaghra and silver ornaments, men wearing dhoti and turban. We loved clicking few pictures with them.
We moved on ahead and we had lunch under the shade of a tree. The food was simply scrumptious and much better than 5-star hotel food. The way food was served with love and magic, we were so impressed. We had an amazing experience to have lunch in this way.
We further went for camel safari. The camels were decorated colorfully. Initially, I was scared but later when ,my ride started, I got comfortable and enjoyed till it ended. We were taken through the sand dunes and some majestic sites. In the evening, we clicked some splendid shots of sunset. I wished my ride to never end, I was enjoying at fullest. In fact all my friends had so much fun during the camel safari.
We were dropped at the Camps where we were asked for welcome drinks and snacks for refreshment. There was an open fire where we cooked food together. This was another interesting activity when we enjoyed so much. We had dinner and we didn’t know we will cook so delicious food. We clicked some more pictures and selfies.
Finally, our driver dropped us at our hotel safely. The tour ended and we would love to come back again to enjoy the desert safari on the sand dunes.
Next day, we enjoyed sightseeing at Jaisalmer city. The fort and havelis were so mesmerizing. In the evening, we departed for our next destination.
